2025 MINI NATIONALS – ROCKER COVER RACING REGULATIONS

So, what is Rocker Cover racing?

General:

  1. This is a fun event: Any person taking it too seriously will be ridiculed and shunned.
  2. The judges’ decision is final although bribes are greatly received!
  3. Constructors wishing to wear racing clothes, fireproof overalls, helmets, etc., do so at their own risk of being
    laughed at.
  4. Any constructor who enters a protest will be automatically disqualified. Oh, that’s a bit harsh. Okay, they’ll be
    given a stern talking to, asked to smile more and lighten up a bit.

The Cars: (the rocker cover variety, not the real things)

  1. Cars must be recognisably from a Mini engine and have four wheels (either inside or outside the rocker cover).
  2. A special class will be established for owners of rocker cover racers, constructed from the rocker cover from a
    new (BMW) MINI.
  3. Cars must not have any form of mechanical propulsion or steering, gravity being the only power source.
  4. Weight and dimensions:
  • Length (including any fixtures) – up to 350mm (approx. 14”)
  • Width – up to 200mm (approx. 8”)
  • Height – up to 200mm (approx. 8”)
  • Wheel diameter – up to 130mm (approx. 5”)
  • Weight – up to 4kg (approx. 8 pounds) – no weight adjustments allowed between races
  1. Sponsorship logos, racing stickers and car names are encouraged but no obscenities please.
  2. Wings for downforce, spoilers air dams and other appendages are all permitted so long as they fit in the
    nominated maximum dimensions of the car. They probably won’t do any good but we can all have a good giggle at them.

The Race:

  1. There will be heats of 4 racers per heat.
  2. The racers will start with their front wheels on the start line. The first racer to have its front wheels cross the
    finish line is the winner. If no racer makes it to the finish, the one going the furthest distance wins.
  3. There is no rule 13 (Superstitious, who me?).
  4. Any racer crossing a lane marker shall be disqualified.
  5. Winning racers will advance to the next round until all are eliminated except one which becomes the outright
    winner.
  6. Any protest must be lodged with the judge who will remind you of rule 1.
  7. There are no more rules. So, get cracking, but above all, have fun! 🙂
  8. Prizes will be awarded, however Rocker Racing does not contribute to Nationals points.
