And now for something completely different! – but a little bit the same

It’s the 2024 National Mini Meet!

30 Years ago, the Mini Cooper Enthusiasts Club, now proudly Minis Waikato, held the first National Mini Meeting. This was essentially our annual ‘MiniSport Weekend’ but this time, in 1994, we invited all other Mini Clubs to join us. Our initial idea was to base it at ‘The Narrows’ campsite, with everyone staying on site for the weekend. This soon changed when we learnt the venue was considered Alcohol Free! Subsequent National Meets have followed, and perhaps improved upon our original format. Show and Shine competitions were introduced along the way. But back in 1994 ‘MCEC’ were more interested in using Minis in Motorsport Competition.

So, now it’s 2024

We think its time for change.

We have new ideas.

We have the Venue

There will be accommodation available on site.

There will be our open night on Friday for collection of registration packs with complimentary refreshments and nibbles.

We aim to run more along the format of English and Japanese Mini Days.

Minis will be on display in groups, based on their decade of manufacture.

Clubs will be invited to put on themed displays of 3 Classic Minis.

There will be no Judges.

There will be things to look at.

There will be things to buy.

There will be a chance for you to sell some stuff.

There will be ‘Rocker Cover’ racing.

There will be food and drink available.

There will be lunch available for entrants.

There will be a Funkhana.

There will be a Competitive Motorkhana. (Grass Venue)

There will be no reason to leave the venue unless you want to. (on Saturday)

There will be a Charity Auction.

There will be a navigational ‘Grand Tour’ on Sunday, with optional visits and some free time.

There will be a Prize giving.

There will be Dinners available both Saturday and Sunday Night.

There will be alcohol available in suitable locations.

We just need your support to make it work!

All of the above are still being organised for you at this stage.

More details to come!
